The versatile Push Pull connector family from Souriau is a market leading interconnect system widely accepted for use in a diverse array of applications. Now Souriau has introduced the new Push Pull breakaway JDX line.
Traditionally, the Push Pull family has comprised of JBX an IP40 connector, available in 5 shell sizes, 00 to 3 with up to 30 positions. If a higher level of sealing is required JKX, IP68, is recommended, sizes 0 & 1, up to 10 positions. With a wide verity of shell styles and sizes the Souriau Push Pull family offers an excellent choice for many industrial applications.
The Push Pull products have performed well in a diverse industrial market. The Push Pull market is expanding to include first responder and military communication systems. Demand in this market segment for connectors with a breakaway feature in harsh environments has increased dramatically. To meet this demand Souriau engineers have designed the JDX breakaway series. The JDX breakaway connectors use standard JBX contacts and insulators. This reduced introduction lead-time, and allowed JDX to enter the market will multiple contact layouts already in place. The Souriau JDX breakaway connectors bring many features unique to the industry. First and foremost they are a breakaway design. This means there is no manually operated latching mechanism. The operator only needs to pull on the connector to disconnect the JDX. The breakaway mechanism will prevent injury to the user or damage to the equipment in the event the cable gets caught on an object. The receptacles are sealed to IP68. The plugs and receptacles in a mated condition are sealed to IP67. They are also available with an interfacial seal this allows the connector to be mated wet. They are available in two exterior finishes chrome over nickel and non-reflective black matt chrome over nickel. Both of these finishes are conductive and they are RoHS compliant.

Souriau offers the JDX breakaway connector in 2 sizes, 0 & 2 with contact layouts from 2 to 19 positions. They are available in multiple shell styles, straight plug front and rear mounting receptacles and an inline cable mounted receptacle. Contact terminations are available in solder and PCB. A size 3 is in development with layouts from 3 to 30 positions. The design of the JDX straight plug and inline receptacle require a multi process over-molded cable assembly. The over-mold is an integral part of the system design. Therefore Souriau will manufacture the custom cable assemblies to meet our customer’s requirements.
In summary, Souriau has designed a small, high density, sealed, wet mate-able, and RoHS compliant, breakaway connector that can withstand demanding applications.
